Recent Accomplishments:
May
2008: I gave birth to our second child at Inanna
Birth Center in Denton, TX. This is the second time that I have
given birth using the methods I teach. The experience is phenominal.
This recent event reminds of the importance of your coach and the
way it strengthens the bonds between you.
January
2008: I assisted a close friend and her husband/coach
in their second birth. This was a successful VBAC, done using the
Bradley method at Baylor Grapevine Hospital..
Personal History:
We met at the University of
North Texas and were married the same month Wendi graduated. Three
short months later we moved to Maryland for two reasons: to get
a taste of another state and for Wendi to get her Masters in Applied
Anthropology. We had our first child, Madeline Olivia, in September
of 2005. Madeline’s birth was everything we wanted it to be
(completely natural of course) at a free standing birth center in
Annapolis Maryland. Six months later we moved back to Texas to be
near family. We live in north Fort Worth and Kevin commutes to downtown
Fort Worth for work. We are active in our faith as Catholics and
have picked up an unusual hobby of making wine at home. We enjoy
spending time with Madeline and our families. Especially if we can
be on a sailboat or near water. As most people we enjoy cooking
and keeping a healthy lifestyle at home. Read more about us in our
individual bio’s.
Wendi grew
up small town Texas around natural childbirth and healthy living;
her mother was a lay midwife for many years. Her interest in women’s
health and pregnancy was pretty ingrained as a child. She focused
her master’s studies in Anthropology on natural family planning
and its use around the world, in many cultures. She has studied
reproductive health and has an appreciation for the biology of the
body. It has been a natural progression to teaching natural childbirth
and empowering women with the truth of their bodies so that they
can do it too.
Kevin grew
up in Dallas in a family of 6. His youngest brother was born at
home. His mother was an inspiration to eat healthy and challenge
the medical model of thinking. He became interested in natural family
planning when getting married and encouraged a natural birth with
their first child. Kevin is an advocate for men to be an assistant
(a coach) through pregnancy and labor and found it to strengthen
their marriage. Using the Bradley method allowed him to take full
part in the pregnancy and have a wealth of understanding when coaching
Wendi.
